Sammy

Fair Trade Artist

Sammy is an artist from Kenya.  Through many years of experience, he has developed his glass engraving technique that he shares with you through the Fair Trade markets of Village Markets of Africa!  He is able to depict  landscapes, animals and even custom corporate logos.

Sammy has a workshop close to his home, and he enjoys being able to create his artwork and spend time with his family.  He has a daughter who is starting university and a son who is starting highschool.

If you would like to support Sammy's work, purchase a set of his hand-engraved glass mugs !

 
Albert
albert.jpgAlbert is a Rwandan refugee that escaped genocide by fleeing to Kenya.  He now makes Christmas cards from bark of the banana tree as a way to feed his family and share his faith.
 
Stephen
stephen.jpgStephen is an active member of the Lutheran Church in Kenya.  He works with the Church’s woodworking cooperative by    painting their high-quality products.  Stephen thanks God to be able to share his work with you through the Church.
 
Margaret
margret.jpgMargaret hand spins her own wool and knits hats and scarves. She recently became a grandmother and supports her family through her work. Her quality knitting provides hope for the newest member of her family. Margaret is currently enrolled in a Lutheran sewing school in Kenya and is an active member at her Church.
 
Priscilla

priscilla.jpgPriscilla hand-spins wool on a homemade machine (left).  She knits hats and scarves in a cooperative with 30 other Kenyan women, all living in poverty.  These women are  extremely gifted, and praise God for the opportunity to share their work with you.  Priscilla has used a loom purchased by VMA to expand her business by producing wool rugs!
