Beatrice works with the woodworking cooperative of the Kenya Evangelical Lutheran Church. As a blind woman, she had fallen victim to extreme poverty until she was given a job sanding. Relying on a keen sense of touch, she has been liberated from poverty and is excited to share her work with you.

Hand-made using an elaborate process of wax etching and dyeing, these stylized fair trade batiks depict traditional scenes of Africa. Extremely labor intensive, this style of artwork showcases the talent of the African artist known as Jingo. Each piece is unique, but similar to the example shown (16” x 24”).
